Texas natural gas production declined while oil output grew in March, the state Railroad Commission reported May 29.
The state's drillers produced 578 Bcf of natural gas in March, or 18.6 Bcf/d, reported on a preliminary basis. That lagged behind February's preliminary average of 18.9 Bcf/d. March 2017's gas production was 19.6 Bcf/d.
The commission reported March oil production of 86.4 million barrels on a preliminary basis, or 2.79 million barrels per day, up from 2.73 MMbbl/d in February. March 2017 brought 2.49 MMbbl/d on average of oil production.
Webb County was the state's largest gas producer in March, with preliminary production of 39.2 Bcf. Tarrant County was in second place, reporting 34.1 Bcf.
Midland County produced the most oil in the state in March, with a preliminary total of 8.9 MMbbl. Karnes County produced the second-largest amount, with 6.6 MMbbl.
