Reports: Large solar projects being considered in Poland

Polish private equity firm NeoInvestments, together with China Sinogy Electric Engineering, is planning to construct a 600-MW photovoltaic power station in Poland by 2021, Reuters reported Sept. 4.

In a separate news report by Renewables Now, Polish utility PGE Polska Grupa Energetyczna SA signed a letter of intent to work with government-owned copper miner KGHM Polska Miedź SA to build up to 500 MW of new solar projects by 2023.

The PGE/KGHM solar projects are estimated to cost approximately 3 million Polish zlotys per MW, according to the report. They will be installed at sites owned by KGHM. The power output will be sold either through auctions or power purchase agreements.

As of Sept. 3, US$1 was equivalent to 3.97 Polish zlotys.
