Report: Votorantim resumes Peruvian zinc smelter operations at half capacity

Votorantim SA resumed operations at its Cajamarquilla zinc smelter in Peru at half of its 330,000-tonne-per-annum production capacity, Metal Bulletin reported March 30.

The facility was closed earlier in the month due to torrential flooding in Peru following heavy rains. The smelter uses zinc concentrates from the Cerro Lindo mine, which remained unaffected by the extreme weather.

Votorantim's Peruvian subsidiary declared force majeure March 22 after heavy rains blocked roads to its El Porvenir and Atacocha polymetallic mines.
