Atmos Energy Corp. said Mike Haefner will step down as president and CEO, effective Sept. 30, to focus on a "recent health issue."
Haefner will retire from Atmos and its board Jan. 1, 2020, according to an Aug. 7 news release. He will be replaced by Kevin Akers, whose appointment as president, CEO and a board member will take effect Oct. 1. Akers is executive vice president of the company.
Kim Cocklin, the company's former CEO, will remain executive chairman of the board, according to the release.
Atmos serves over 3 million distribution customers in eight states.
