McDonald's Corp. said Sept. 26 it will start selling a plant-based burger at select restaurants in Canada for a 12-week trial starting Sept. 30.
The fast-food giant said the burger, called P.L.T., or Plant-Lettuce-Tomato burger, is made of specialized plant-based patties developed with Beyond Meat Inc.
The trial will be conducted in 28 restaurants in southwestern Ontario to assess customer demand and impact on restaurant operations.
The P.L.T. will retail for C$6.49 plus tax.
