Stanmore estimates 13 million tonnes maiden reserve at Isaac Plains coal mine

Stanmore Coal Ltd. declared a maiden JORC-compliant reserve for its Isaac Plains underground mine at the Isaac Plains coal complex in Queensland's Bowen Basin region in Australia.

The JORC-compliant estimate includes probable run-of-mine reserves of about 13 million tonnes, according to the May 28 release.

Marketable coal reserves stand at 9.4 million tonnes, made up of 8.2 million tonnes of semi-soft coking coal and 1.2 million tonnes of thermal coal.

A previous pre-feasibility study for the mine pegged an annual production rate of 1.2 million tonnes per annum of run-of-mine coal, with an average annual yield of between 71% and 74% to produce a mix of semi-soft coking coal and thermal coal.

The overall Isaac Plains complex, which comprises the Isaac Plains mine and the Isaac Plains East project, hosts JORC-compliant mineral resources of 82.2 million tonnes, as at end of December 2017, increasing 4% over the April 2017 estimate of 79.2 million tonnes.

The measured and indicated categories now include 79% of the total resource, after a 41% increase in the measured category.

The Isaac Plains mine hosts 52.5 million tonnes of resources, while the Isaac Plains East project hosts 29.7 million tonnes, the company said in a separate same day release.
