Rocky Mountain Power is soliciting bids for 308,000 MWh of power generation from solar, wind and geothermal energy projects in Utah.
The request for proposals, issued May 29, will translate to approximately 40 MW of geothermal capacity or approximately 100 MW to 126 MW of wind or solar capacity. The projects will be interconnected to the PacifiCorp system.
The company said the move came in response to broad demand from residential and business customers for renewable power generation to help meet their "aggressive renewable and sustainability goals."
The utility also is seeking renewable projects to meet the demand of the next offering of the subscriber renewables program, after the initial subscriber solar program was fully subscribed. The program will allow Rocky Mountain Power customers to receive some or all of their energy from renewable sources.
Rocky Mountain Power is legally known as PacifiCorp, a Berkshire Hathaway Energy subsidiary.
