Netflix inks streaming deal with Telefónica for Europe, Latin America

Telefónica SA has struck a partnership with Netflix Inc. to integrate the latter across Telefónica's TV and video platforms in Europe and Latin America, the Spanish telco announced.

Launch details for Latin America will be announced in the coming weeks, while rollout in Spain is slated for the end of 2018. The tie-up is expected to boost Telefónica's existing video platforms.

Telefónica just recently rolled out new 4K set-top boxes in Spain and also increased its push on 4K content. In Latin America, the company partnered with Viacom Inc. to carry live feeds of MTV, Nickelodeon, Nick Jr., Comedy Central and Paramount Channel on the Movistar Play platform.
