Trump, Boeing reach $3.9B deal on Air Force One planes

U.S. President Donald Trump has agreed with Boeing Co. on the production of two new Air Force One presidential aircraft worth $3.9 billion, a White House official said, according to CNN.

"President Trump has reached an informal deal with Boeing on a fixed price contract for the new Air Force One Program," said White House spokesman Hogan Gidley, claiming that the contract will save taxpayers more than $1.4 billion.

Boeing tweeted that Trump "negotiated a good deal on behalf of the American people."

Trump asked for the development of the new planes to be completed by 2021, ahead of the original plan of 2024, the report said, citing two unnamed officials.

In December 2016, following his election victory, Trump criticized on Twitter the costs of the new Air Force One project, saying the price tag then was more than $4 billion.
