Workman Co. fiscal Q1 profit climbs 5.0% YOY

Workman Co. Ltd. said its normalized net income for the fiscal first quarter ended June 30 came to ¥36.16 per share, a gain of 5.0% from ¥34.43 per share in the prior-year period.

Normalized net income, which excludes unusual gains or losses on a pre- and after-tax basis, was ¥1.48 billion, an increase of 5.0% from ¥1.41 billion in the year-earlier period.

The normalized profit margin declined to 11.8% from 11.8% in the year-earlier period.

Total revenue rose 5.4% year over year to ¥12.52 billion from ¥11.88 billion, and total operating expenses climbed 5.5% on an annual basis to ¥10.44 billion from ¥9.89 billion.

Reported net income grew 9.5% from the prior-year period to ¥1.39 billion, or ¥34.14 per share, from ¥1.27 billion, or ¥31.17 per share.
