Exxon restarting Beaumont refinery after electrical fire

Exxon Mobil Corp. is in the process of restarting its refinery in Beaumont, Texas, after an electrical fire led to its shutdown during the evening of Jan. 5.

The fire resulted from a transformer failure to equipment that produces steam for operations, an Exxon spokeswoman said in a Jan. 7 email.

There were no release of hydrocarbons and no injuries were reported.

"An investigation will be conducted to determine the cause of the incident. We expect to continue to meet contractual commitments," the company spokeswoman added.
