Subaru of America January sales increase 1.1%

Subaru of America Inc. reported a 1.1% year-over-year sales increase in January with a total of 44,357 vehicles sold.

The auto manufacturer said it was the 47th consecutive month with over 40,000 units sold. The company sold 13,279 units of the Outback and 10,848 units of the Forester during the first month of 2018. Sales of the Crosstrek compact SUV jumped 45.0% compared to January 2017 with 9,437 units sold.

Jeff Walters, senior vice president of sales, said that Crosstrek sales exceeded expectations and that the Ascent three-row SUV will be a welcome addition to the company's line of products.

"Our retailers continue to understand that in today's competitive auto market, it is vitally important to convey to our customers the value that is inherent in all of our products and services," said Thomas J. Doll, president and COO of Subaru of America. "It is through the determination of our retailers that we continue to establish yearly month-over-month sales increases in such a competitive auto industry environment."
