Shell rebrands UK power retailer First Utility as Shell Energy Retail

Royal Dutch Shell PLC announced March 25 the rebranding of U.K. residential energy supplier First Utility Ltd. as Shell Energy Retail Ltd.

Shell has also switched all of First Utility's customers to 100% renewable electricity to grow its low carbon emission business. First Utility serves more than 700,000 customers, according to a news release.

The brand change comes a year after First Utility was acquired and as several European oil and gas companies are expanding investments in cleaner energy including electricity, LNG and renewables.
