Bank of Montreal files $25B shelf

Toronto-based Bank of Montreal filed a shelf registration statement for the sale of various securities for a proposed maximum aggregate offering price of $25 billion, estimated solely to calculate the registration fee.

The filing covers the potential sale, from time to time, of common shares, class A preferred shares, class B preferred shares, senior debt securities and subordinated debt securities.

The company intends to use the net proceeds from any such sale of these securities for general working capital purposes.
