Ctrip.com International Ltd. rolled out a new credit card in Japan in partnership with Shanghai-based UnionPay International Co. Ltd. and Japan's Sumitomo Mitsui Card Co. Ltd., the Nikkei Asian Review reported May 15, citing a news conference the same day.
The Trip.com Global Card is the Chinese travel giant's first credit card outside its home market, the news outlet said. It will be available from June 6 under the UnionPay brand and will offer discounts on hotel reservations and other perks through Ctrip's global site Trip.com, according to the report.
Ctrip CEO Jane Sun reportedly said at the event that she expects "more than one million cards to be issued" in the coming years, with an aim to "provide travel merchandise on a global scale."
