Report: Clariant in talks to sell plastic additives unit to PolyOne for US$1.5B

Swiss specialty chemical company Clariant AG is in talks to sell its plastic additives unit Masterbatches to PolyOne Corp. for about US$1.5 billion, Bloomberg News reported, citing people with knowledge of the matter.

The sources told the news outlet that although the talks are most advanced with fellow specialty chemicals company PolyOne, other companies including private equity firms are also interested in acquiring the unit.

The business manufactures colorants and optical brighteners for polymers.

The sources noted that no final decision has been made and there is no certainty that the talks will result in a sale, the news outlet reported.
