Tree House Education & Accessories fiscal Q3 profit climbs 19.7% YOY

Tree House Education & Accessories Ltd. said its normalized net income for the fiscal third quarter ended Dec. 31, 2014, came to 3.49 Indian rupees per share, a gain of 14.3% from 3.05 rupees per share in the prior-year period.

Normalized net income, which excludes unusual gains or losses on a pre- and after-tax basis, was 135.7 million rupees, a gain of 19.7% from 113.3 million rupees in the prior-year period.

The normalized profit margin dropped to 25.5% from 28.5% in the year-earlier period.

Total revenue grew 33.7% on an annual basis to 531.1 million rupees from 397.3 million rupees, and total operating expenses rose 40.5% year over year to 276.0 million rupees from 196.5 million rupees.

Reported net income rose 25.0% year over year to 151.2 million rupees, or 3.89 rupees per share, from 121.0 million rupees, or 3.26 rupees per share.

As of Feb. 6, US$1 was equivalent to 61.94 Indian rupees.
