Chair appointed for Banca Carige surveillance committee

Banca Carige SpA said Jan. 4 that Gianluca Brancadoro was appointed chair of the surveillance committee that the European Central Bank established as part of the Italian lender's temporary administration.

Brancadoro is a professor of commercial law at the University of Teramo and is a partner in law firm Studio Brancadoro - Mirabile. He has also been serving as the chairman of the board of statutory auditors at Società per la Gestione di Attività - S.G.A. S.p.A.

The struggling Italian lender was placed under temporary administration due to widening losses and a weak capital position.
