Walmart develops app to improve staff scheduling

Walmart Inc. on Nov. 13 said it created the app My Walmart Schedule to improve scheduling among its staff.

Employees can use the app to view schedules, swap shifts and volunteer for unfilled shifts.

To improve consistency, the retailer is also introducing "core hours," where core-hour associates will work the same shift for at least 13 weeks. About 2,000 locations currently run on a core-hour schedule.

My Walmart Schedule will be live in all U.S. stores by the end of November.

On Nov. 8, Walmart revealed its Black Friday store plans.
