Nuclear update: Total output rises as 2 units increase production

Total U.S. nuclear plant availability rose early Jan. 19 to 96.34%, up from 95.62% on Jan. 18 and also remaining above the 95.32% reported on the same day a year ago.

Providing U.S. output with a boost was increased production at the Peach Bottom 2 plant in Pennsylvania, which is jointly owned by Public Service Enterprise Group Inc. and Exelon Corp. The unit was at 77% early Jan. 19, rising from 40% the day prior.

In addition, Xcel Energy Inc.'s Prairie Island 2 in Minnesota saw production climb from 42% on Jan. 18 to 100% early Jan. 19.
