Honda Motor fiscal Q2 profit climbs YOY

Honda Motor Co., Ltd. said its normalized net income for the fiscal second quarter ended Sept. 30 came to ¥65.05 per share, compared with ¥64.51 per share in the year-earlier period.

Normalized net income, which excludes unusual gains or losses on a pre- and after-tax basis, was ¥117.25 billion, compared with ¥116.26 billion in the prior-year period.

The normalized profit margin declined to 3.2% from 3.9% in the year-earlier period.

Total revenue climbed 20.1% year over year to ¥3.621 trillion from ¥3.015 trillion, and total operating expenses grew 21.3% from the prior-year period to ¥3.456 trillion from ¥2.850 trillion.

Reported net income decreased 10.0% on an annual basis to ¥127.75 billion, or ¥70.88 per share, from ¥141.90 billion, or ¥78.73 per share.

As of Nov. 11, US$1 was equivalent to ¥122.91.
