Copenhagen Infrastructure invests in Texas wind asset

Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners K/S is investing $80 million of equity in a 162.2-MW merchant wind project in the Electric Reliability Council Of Texas market.

The Bearkat II project, the second phase of the NBOHR (BearKat Wind) Wind Project project developed by Tri Global Energy LLC in Glasscock County, Texas, is expected online in December 2019.

The project will be the fifth U.S. onshore wind project backed by CIP's second infrastructure fund, which previously invested $84 million in the neighboring Bearkat I wind project, a 196.7-MW facility that went online in early 2018.

The facility, which will utilize 47 Vestas Wind Systems A/S turbines, will qualify for the full production tax credit, with one or more investors expected to contribute tax equity at project close, according to a news release.

Black & McDonald Ltd. is the project's balance of plant contractor. Vestas will provide operational and maintenance services for Bearkat II's wind turbines under a 30-year service agreement.
