German import, export prices rise in January

Germany's index of import prices gained 0.5% month over month in January, the Federal Statistical Office said.

As compared to the preceding year, the index was up 0.7% in January after gaining 1.1% in December 2017.

Excluding crude oil and mineral oil products, the index for import prices was down 0.1% year over year in January.

Meanwhile, the index for export prices rose 0.3% in January on a monthly basis. Annually, the index gained 0.7% in January after rising 1.0% in December 2017.
