Rite Aid Corp. said its normalized net income for the fiscal fourth quarter ended Feb. 28 amounted to 8 cents per share, compared with the S&P Capital IQ consensus estimate of 8 cents per share.
EPS increased year over year from 4 cents.
Normalized net income, which excludes unusual gains or losses on a pre- and after-tax basis, was $86.9 million, an increase from $41.9 million in the fourth quarter ended March 1, 2014.
The normalized profit margin increased to 1.4% from 0.6% in the year-earlier period.
Total revenue increased year over year to $6.85 billion from $6.60 billion, and total operating expenses rose on an annual basis to $6.61 billion from $6.43 billion.
Reported net income rose on an annual basis to $1.84 billion, or $1.79 per share, from $58.9 million, or 6 cents per share.
For the year, the company's normalized net income totaled 30 cents per share, compared with the S&P Capital IQ consensus normalized EPS estimate of 36 cents.
EPS rose 37.6% from 22 cents in the prior year.
Normalized net income was $302.2 million, an increase of 43.0% from $211.2 million in the prior year.
Full-year total revenue increased year over year to $26.53 billion from $25.53 billion, and total operating expenses increased year over year to $25.65 billion from $24.76 billion.
The company said reported net income rose year over year to $2.11 billion, or $2.08 per share, in the full year, from $220.9 million, or 23 cents per share.
