Riso Kyoiku Co. Ltd. said its normalized net income for the fiscal fourth quarter ended Feb. 28 was ¥5.70 per share, a decline from ¥5.97 per share in the year-earlier period.
Normalized net income, which excludes unusual gains or losses on a pre- and after-tax basis, was ¥293.8 million, an increase of 5.6% from ¥278.1 million in the year-earlier period.
The normalized profit margin increased to 5.8% from 4.9% in the year-earlier period.
Total revenue declined 10.1% year over year to ¥5.06 billion from ¥5.63 billion, and total operating expenses fell 11.6% year over year to ¥4.58 billion from ¥5.18 billion.
Reported net income came to ¥340.0 million, or ¥6.60 per share, compared to a loss of ¥1.18 billion, or a loss of ¥25.30 per share, in the prior-year period.
For the year, the company's normalized net income totaled ¥12.28 per share, compared with a loss of ¥7.44 per share in the prior year.
Normalized net income was ¥611.3 million, compared with a loss of ¥330.6 million in the prior year.
Full-year total revenue decreased 5.1% year over year to ¥18.78 billion from ¥19.77 billion, and total operating expenses decreased 12.4% on an annual basis to ¥17.77 billion from ¥20.28 billion.
The company said reported net income totaled ¥2.38 billion, or ¥47.80 per share, in the full year, compared with a loss of ¥2.68 billion, or a loss of ¥60.38 per share, the prior year.
