OZ Minerals Ltd. said Dec. 11 that it awarded an approximately A$312 million contract to Downer EDI and its joint venture partner Ausenco for work on the company's Carrapateena copper-gold mine in South Australia.
The scope of work includes engineering, procurement and construction of a new minerals processing plant, including the non-process infrastructure to support the operations.
The contract also covers site power distribution and bore fields development for regional water supply, as well as a full communications and telemetry network.
Initial work will begin under a limited notice to proceed, with construction scheduled to commence at the end of the first quarter of 2018.
The initial works under the limited notice are valued at about A$100 million.
