Telemundo Deportes is expected to join the streaming subscription competition this fall with an entry that will be part of the NBC Sports Gold roster.
Telemundo Deportes President Ray Warren, speaking at March 19 luncheon in Manhattan heralding NBCUniversal Media LLC's Spanish-language coverage of the upcoming 2019 FIFA Women's World Cup from France and the Copa America tournament from Brazil, teased a streaming service the company plans to unveil in May.
In a subsequent interview, Warren said Telemundo Deportes would announce the still unnamed service in two months, ahead of a launch this fall. Though the programming roster is not yet fleshed out, it will likely include soccer, boxing and auto racing.
Warren noted that additional content, which will not be found on the Telemundo (US) and UNIVERSO (US) linear networks, will be housed under NBC Sports Gold, the suite of subscription streaming services operated by NBC Sports that provide expanded access to a number of sports offerings.
Among the packages offered under the NBC Sports Gold banner are Premier League Pass, which offers additional matches from the UK's top soccer circuit, and subscriptions around rugby, motorsports, cycling, golf, and track and field, among other properties.
