Nintendo fiscal Q3 profit climbs 29.2% YOY

Nintendo Co. Ltd. said its normalized net income for the fiscal third quarter ended Dec. 31, 2014, amounted to ¥370.50 per share, a gain of 39.6% from ¥265.40 per share in the prior-year period.

Normalized net income, which excludes unusual gains or losses on a pre- and after-tax basis, was ¥43.86 billion, an increase of 29.2% from ¥33.94 billion in the prior-year period.

The normalized profit margin rose to 16.2% from 11.2% in the year-earlier period.

Total revenue decreased 10.3% year over year to ¥271.52 billion from ¥302.54 billion, and total operating expenses decreased 14.6% year over year to ¥239.70 billion from ¥280.84 billion.

Reported net income grew 371.2% year over year to ¥45.22 billion, or ¥381.97 per share, from ¥9.60 billion, or ¥75.04 per share.

As of Feb. 13, US$1 was equivalent to ¥118.68.
