Piedmont Lithium Ltd. said Dec. 13 that it started a 20,000-meter drill program at its namesake lithium project in North Carolina.
The program will focus on completing infill drilling for the definition of a maiden mineral resource and to test the extensions of the pegmatites identified along strike and downdip. An initial exploration target of between 10 million and 15 million tonnes, at a grade of between 1.00% and 1.25% lithium oxide, is estimated for the property.
President and CEO Keith Phillips said the company expects to announce the maiden resource in early to mid-2018.
