Anglo American secures approval to restart Minas Rio iron ore ops in Brazil

Anglo American PLC secured approval from the Brazilian environmental agency Ibama to restart operations at its Minas Rio iron ore mine in the country, Reuters reported March 28, citing the mining major.

The operations were suspended March 12 after an ore pipeline rupture at the site, resulting in the leaking of a mixture of iron ore and water to a local watershed.

The company said that it is in the process of cleaning the affected area.
