St Barbara Ltd. said March 15 that it has resumed production at its Simberi gold mine in Papua New Guinea after resolving an illegal workers' strike.
Output was halted on March 7 as the mine's workforce downed tools, a move the company attributed to misunderstandings on leave provisions and other employment conditions. These issues have now been addressed.
Full operations resumed on March 14, St Barbara noted.
Simberi has produced 93,000 ounces of gold in the current financial year to date and is expected to meet its full-year guidance of between 115,000 and 125,000 ounces of gold.
