Polaris Infrastructure energizes 2 hydroelectric projects in Peru

Toronto-based Polaris Infrastructure Inc. on Jan. 7 announced that its two run-of-river hydroelectric facilities in Peru reached commercial operations.

The 20-MW 8 de Agosto and 8-MW El Carmen hydro projects, which Polaris Infrastructure acquired Oct. 30, 2018, are in Peru's Huanuco region.

The projects have also received official extensions of power purchase agreements, according to a company news release. The formal extensions were granted by the Peruvian Ministry of Energy and Mines with extension dates in the first quarter of 2020 for both projects.
