Hyundai Motor Co. said July 3 it invested in Israel-based automotive technology company Autotalks for a strategic partnership to develop next-generation chipsets for connected cars.
Autotalks makes Vehicle to Everything (V2X) chipsets that allow vehicles to communicate with one another, other road users and road infrastructure, improving safety and mobility.
In manned vehicles, the V2X system alerts the driver to important information and can operate the vehicle in dangerous situations, while in autonomous vehicles it complements existing sensors, allowing them to make more informed decisions and easing interaction with other road users.
The South Korean auto giant did not disclose the financial terms of the investment.
