Panasonic Corp. on Aug. 29 said it joined RE100, a global initiative of businesses dedicated to using 100% renewable power in their operations to combat climate change.
The Japanese home appliance and electronics maker said all its factories will be free of carbon dioxide and will run on 100% renewable power by 2050.
The company said it will use energy-saving procedures and install alternative power systems, including photovoltaic systems and renewable electricity, at its factories.
Other members of the RE100 initiative include ready-to-assemble furniture maker IKEA AB, Belgian brewer Anheuser-Busch InBev SA and German carmaker Bayerische Motoren Werke AG.
