World Coal Association selects Peabody CEO as new chairman

The World Coal Association appointed Peabody Energy Corp. President and CEO Glenn Kellow as its new chairman, replacing Glencore PLC executive Mick Buffier.

"I'd like to thank Mick Buffier for his years of service and I look forward to working with the global industry as we approach the challenges and opportunities ahead," Kellow said in a May 17 news release. "The WCA has a vital role to play in deepening understanding of the role coal plays in the global energy mix and supporting greater use of advanced coal technologies, including today's high-efficiency, low-emissions coal-fueled generation technologies and carbon capture, use and storage."

Kellow joined Peabody in 2013 and was named president and CEO in 2015.
