Exelon takes over FitzPatrick nuclear facility from Entergy

Exelon Corp. has become the new owner and operator of the James A. FitzPatrick nuclear power plant in New York after closing its acquisition of the Oswego-based facility from Entergy Corp. on March 31. The deal secured approval from state and federal agencies.

Maxim Power wraps sale of US subsidiary to Hull Street Energy

Maxim Power Corp. completed the sale of Maxim Power (USA) Inc. to an affiliate of Hull Street Energy LLC for approximately $106 million, inclusive of working capital. The transaction, which was announced in December 2016, received FERC approval March 6.

Boulder, Colo., weighs Xcel Energy offer to work with utility or buy it out

The Boulder City Council will decide on April 18 whether to suspend its municipalization case before the Colorado Public Utilities Commission in order to put Xcel Energy Inc.'s "last best offer" on the city's November ballot. The city would have to put the proposals on a ballot for voters in the city to decide, according to the utility's offer.

CKP Holdings to acquire Reliance for C$2.82B

CKP Holdings Ltd on March 31 said it has agreed to acquire Reliance Home Comfort with investment funds managed by Alinda Capital Partners Ltd. Pending regulatory approval, a subsidiary of Cheung Kong Property Holdings Ltd. will proceed with the acquisition for C$2.82 billion in cash and assumption of Reliance's debt.

Exelon unloads minority stake in renewables business to John Hancock

Exelon Corp. has agreed to sell a 49% stake in its Exelon Generation Co. LLC renewable energy business to insurance company John Hancock Life Insurance Co. (USA) for a purchase price of approximately $400 million. The $400 million deal is subject to working capital and post-closing adjustments.

Osaka Gas USA closes acquisition of stake in 795-MW gas-fired plant

Osaka Gas USA Corp. closed the acquisition of a 20% equity interest in CPV Shore Holdings LLC's 795-MW Woodbridge Energy Center from CPV Shore Investment. The Osaka Gas Co. Ltd. and Global Infrastructure Management LLC affiliates did not disclose financial terms of the transaction.

Innovative Solar to sell up to 5GW of solar projects

Innovative Solar Systems LLC announced April 2 that a "foreign entity" has agreed to fund and purchase between 1,000 MW and 5,000 MW of the company's utility-scale solar power projects in 2017 and 2018. The terms of the deal were not disclosed.

First Solar wraps sale of 250-MW Nev. solar facility to Capital Dynamics

First Solar Inc. on March 30 said it has completed the sale of its cash equity interests in the 250-MW Moapa Southern Paiute solar facility in Nevada to Capital Dynamics AG for an undisclosed sum. First Solar Energy Services will operate and maintain the facility.

FERC approves Pattern's ownership transfer in NM wind projects

FERC on March 29 approved Pattern Energy Group LP's request to sell its ownership stake in the 181.7-MW Broadview Energy JN and the 142.6-MW Broadview Energy KW wind projects as well as the 345-kV Western Interconnect transmission line to a subsidiary of Pattern Energy Group Inc. for $269 million.

Spark Energy buys additional 60,000 RCEs, lifts 2017 adjusted EBITDA guidance

Spark Energy Inc. has completed its purchase of 19,000 residential customer equivalents, or RCEs, from its subsidiary National Gas & Electric LLC and bought an additional 41,000 RCEs from a third-party seller.

Dominion closes purchase of 30-MW Calif. solar project

Dominion Resources Inc. subsidiary Dominion Energy Inc. has completed its acquisition of the 30-MWac Midway II solar project from Solar Frontier Americas Inc.. The project is located in Imperial County, Calif., and will sell power to Imperial Irrigation District under a 25-year power purchase agreement.

BAL Investment, equity investor close deal for 1,381-MW wind portfolio

Bank of America Corp. subsidiary BAL Investment & Advisory Inc. and an equity investor completed their acquisition of noncontrolling interests in a wind generation portfolio with about 1,381 MW of capacity from an indirect unit of Royal Bank of Scotland Group Plc.

Pattern Energy affiliate wins FERC approval to sell stake in wind projects

A Pattern Energy Group Inc. affiliate on March 31 received FERC approval to sell its 100% passive class A membership stake in Broadview Energy JN and Broadview Energy KW to a group of investors. The two Broadview Energy entities are developing wind energy facilities in Curry County, N.M.

CE Power acquires Minnesota-based Utilities Plus Energy Services

CE Power Engineered Services LLC has acquired the Elk River, Minn.-based Utilities Plus Energy Services Inc. Utilities Plus Energy Services will continue to operate under the same name as a wholly owned subsidiary of CE Power Engineered Services.
