The Doctors Co. has completed the acquisition of Hospitals Insurance Co. Inc. and FOJP Service Corp. for $650 million, subject to closing adjustments.
Proceeds from the transaction will be given back to the not-for-profit hospitals that owned and founded the acquired entities, The Mount Sinai Hospital and Beth Israel Medical Center, Montefiore Health System Inc. and Maimonides Medical Center Inc.
The completion of the deal marks the establishment of Healthcare Risk Advisors, a new business unit within The Doctors Co. group. The unit will succeed FOJP Service and focus on third-party comprehensive insurance and risk management advisory services.
Hospitals Insurance and Healthcare Risk Advisors will be led by Noeleen Doelger as chief operating and financial officer and Robert Kauffman as president. Walter Harris will assume a consulting role with The Doctors Co. group. Harris was president and CEO of Hospitals Insurance and FOJP Service.
Hospitals Insurance is a New York-admitted and licensed insurance company, while FOJP Service is a New York service organization that offers third-party comprehensive insurance and risk management advisory services to Hospitals Insurance-insured hospitals.
