Argentina's Columbus Merchant Banking, Zuma Advisors merge

Argentina-based investment banks Columbus Merchant Banking and Zuma Advisors S.A. have merged to create Columbus Zuma, Clarín reported.

Columbus Zuma will focus on areas such as mergers and acquisitions, capital markets, corporate finance, securities and stock trading, portfolio management, financial advising and research. It will have 30 employees.

The new entity is currently surveying the market for acquisitions and is looking to engage in trading, where it is searching for purchase opportunities. An international alliance is also currently in the works, the report said.

Columbus Merchant Banking was founded in 2004 by former Citigroup bankers. Zuma Advisors was formed in 2009 by former bankers from Lehman Brothers and Barclays.
