OneWeb founder's company leads funding round for wireless provider Tarana

1010 Holdings LLC, the family offices of OneWeb LLC founder and Executive Chairman Greg Wyler, has led an $88 million financing round for Tarana Wireless Inc., a U.S.-based provider of fixed wireless access network solutions.

Satellite company EchoStar Corp. and venture capital firm Khosla Ventures LLC will jointly invest $60 million in Tarana under the fundraising, according to a March 21 statement.

Following the new investment, Wyler, EchoStar Chairman Charlie Ergen and Khosla Ventures partner Samir Kaul have joined Tarana's board of directors.

Tarana will use the funding round's proceeds to finish its product development efforts and begin commercial tests of its wireless broadband technology. The company has so far raised almost $200 million in total with the help of previous investors such as AT&T Inc., Deutsche Telekom AG and several global private investors.

EchoStar's former executive vice president, Kranti Kilaru, has been appointed president of Tarana.
