SEC chief economist to leave agency

Jeffrey Harris, the SEC's chief economist and director of the division of economic and risk analysis, will leave the agency at the end of May.

Harris, also a professor of finance at American University's Kogod School of Business, plans to return to academia full time, the agency said. He joined the SEC in September 2017 and has led the division's team on agency policy, rulemaking, enforcement and examinations, and risk analysis.
