Bangladesh government swaps top executives for Sonali Bank, Rupali Bank

The government of Bangladesh swapped the managing directors and CEOs for Rupali Bank Ltd. and Sonali Bank Ltd., Dhaka Tribune reported Aug. 20, citing a circular from Bangladesh's financial institution division's commercial bank unit.

Ataur Rahaman Prodhan will serve as Sonali Bank's managing director and CEO, while Obayed Ullah Al Masud will assume similar positions at Rupali Bank. Both chief executives will serve for a three-year term, the report noted.

Further, Jamaluddin Ahmed will serve as chairman of Janata Bank Ltd. Ziaul Hasan Siddiqui was also named as chairman of Sonali Bank, while Monzur Hossain will serve as chairman on the board of Rupali Bank.
