Statkraft to buy output of 50-MW solar park in Spain

Norway's Statkraft AS signed a 12-year contract to buy the output of the 50-MW Don Rodrigo 2 solar park, which is being built by Germany's BayWa r.e. renewable energy GmbH in Spain.

The project is less than 3 kilometers away from the operational 175-MW Don Rodrigo solar park which already sells its power to Statkraft under a 15-year power purchase agreement.

Both projects will operate without government subsidies.

BayWa r.e. — a BayWa AG subsidiary — expects to complete the construction by the end of the year. Once completed, it will generate approximately 100 GWh of electricity yearly, enough to power about 30,000 households.
