Juniper Networks, Inc. said its first-quarter normalized net income was 18 cents per share, compared with the S&P Capital IQ consensus estimate of 31 cents per share.
EPS climbed 34.4% year over year from 13 cents.
Normalized net income, which excludes unusual gains or losses on a pre- and after-tax basis, was $73.0 million, an increase of 12.1% from $65.1 million in the year-earlier period.
The normalized profit margin climbed to 6.8% from 5.6% in the year-earlier period.
Total revenue declined 8.8% on an annual basis to $1.07 billion from $1.17 billion, and total operating expenses declined 11.4% on an annual basis to $934.2 million from $1.05 billion.
Reported net income declined 28.0% on an annual basis to $78.7 million, or 19 cents per share, from $109.2 million, or 22 cents per share.
