Collectors Universe fiscal Q2 profit falls YOY

Collectors Universe Inc. said its normalized net income for the fiscal second quarter ended Dec. 31, 2015, was 12 cents per share, a decrease of 36.8% from 19 cents per share in the prior-year period.

Normalized net income, which excludes unusual gains or losses on a pre- and after-tax basis, was $1.0 million, a decrease of 36.6% from $1.6 million in the year-earlier period.

The normalized profit margin declined to 8.3% from 11.7% in the year-earlier period.

Total revenue fell 10.7% year over year to $12.6 million from $14.1 million, and total operating expenses decreased year over year to $10.9 million from $11.5 million.

Reported net income fell 39.8% from the prior-year period to $1.0 million, or 12 cents per share, from $1.7 million, or 20 cents per share.
