Global alternative asset manager Carlyle Group LP hired John Kanas as a senior adviser consultant and vice chairman of Carlyle Global Financial Services Partners.

As part of the role, Kanas will advise Carlyle's executive team and investment professionals on strategic and financial services concerns.

Kanas is nonexecutive chairman of former Carlyle Group portfolio company BankUnited, where he served as president and CEO.
