Deutsche Bank AG does not have President Donald Trump's tax returns, the 2nd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals said Oct. 10, citing the bank, in a ruling answering media organizations' request from Sept. 11 to reveal whose tax returns are with the German lender.
Deutsche Bank was subpoenaed in April by the House Committee on Financial Services and the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence to hand over documents, including tax returns, that would show the financial dealings of the president, his family and affiliated entities with the bank. Trump had asked the court to prevent Deutsche Bank from handing over the papers.
In a letter to the court Aug. 27, Deutsche Bank said it has copies of tax returns of two people included in the House committees' inquiry but not of the president. The bank kept the identities of the two people hidden in a sealed letter to the court.
The media organizations sought to unseal Deutsche Bank's letter to reveal the names of those two people, which the court denied.
