Wheeler REIT outgoing CFO opts for immediate exit

Wheeler Real Estate Investment Trust Inc. on Jan. 23 received a notice from Wilkes Graham informing the company of his decision to resign as CFO, effective immediately, for "good reason," but the company said it disagrees that he had good reason to do so.

The grocery-anchored shopping center landlord argued in a filing that the terms of Graham's employment contract stipulate that the effective date of termination would take place 60 days after written notice with or without good reason, and not immediately. As such, the company said it has expressly reserved all claims it may have in relation to Graham's employment.

Graham was originally scheduled to step down on or before March 4. The company appointed Chief Accounting Officer Matthew Reddy as Graham's replacement.
