Kinderhook purchases protective door edge guards maker Adell

Private investment firm Kinderhook Industries LLC acquired Adell Corp., a manufacturer of protective door edge guards, for an undisclosed sum.

Adell will serve as a platform for a buy-and-build strategy focused on original equipment manufacturer, or OEM, parts and accessories and parts that are sold to the aftermarket divisions of automotive OEMs, Kinderhook said.

The deal marks Kinderhook's 17th automotive platform investment and 70th automotive acquisition including follow-ons.

As part of the acquisition, Kinderhook operating partner J Pearson will become Adell's CEO.

Kirkland & Ellis LLP provided legal counsel to Kinderhook.
