Uber Technologies Inc. is in talks with Toyota Motor Corp. to sell its self-driving technology to the Japanese automaker, Nikkei Asian Review reported.
Toyota might install the ride-hailing company's self-driving system in a minivan. Uber CEO Dara Khosrowshahi met with Shigeki Tomoyama, executive vice president at Toyota, and Gill Pratt, head of the company's artificial intelligence development efforts, this week at Uber's research and development center in Pittsburgh.
Toyota itself is developing core self-driving capabilities, but also plans to use technologies from companies such as Uber and China's Didi Chuxing.
