SoftBank Group Corp.'s private equity arm, SoftBank Vision Fund, has led a Series D funding round of $250 million in California-based data storage company, Cohesity Inc., according to a June 11 statement.
The funding round, which included Cisco Investments, Hewlett Packard Enterprise Co., Morgan Stanley Expansion Capital along with early investor Sequoia Capital, brought Cohesity's total fundraising to $410 million, Cohesity said. The company added that it plans to use the capital raised to accelerate its investments into cloud-like infrastructure.
Cohesity added in its statement that its latest investment round outpaced all other Series D enterprise software investments in the U.S. over the last 18 months.
The latest investment round marks the second time that SoftBank, which is reportedly eyeing a second $100 billion Vision Fund, has invested in an enterprise software company. Last year, it invested in Slack Technologies, Inc., a workplace messaging service.
SoftBank's Vision Fund and Delta Fund have invested $29.70 billion in 25 tech firms and has put in $12.90 billion in ride sharing firms Uber Technologies Inc. and Didi Chuxing Technology Co. Ltd.
